In the Victorian Era, women wore timepieces on their necks. "Decorative stations" supported and held a neck timepiece in place. The decorative supports allowed the watch length to be adjusted and kept it from twisting on the chain. With the invention of the wrist watch, a desire to reuse these elegant decorative supports became prevalent and the invention of the slide bracelet was born.
The Heirloom Slide Bracelet follows the styles of the Victorian Era from around 1837 to 1901, drawn from classical styles. The central elements in this design are the "decorative stations" embellished with Swarovski fancy stones individually woven with seed beads and crystals. The decorative stations are then slid onto a peyote stitched base making it very easy to size for your wrist. The clasp is a double toggle with a Swarovski Rivoli center. This bracelet is very supple to the touch and luxurious to wear.
Skill Level: Intermediate, knowledge of the peyote stitch is required. Although new techniques are covered in the pattern, they are easily learned from clear and concise instructions.
