How much does it cost to attend a workshop at the Westin?
Tuition for each workshop is $65 plus the kit fee. Tuition for all three workshops is $180 plus the kit fees.

What is the Friends & Family Discount?
Take any workshop at the Westin with a friend or family member, and you will receive 25% off both of your tuition rates. That means workshops are only $48.75 per person per class! You won't find a better value anywhere else. This offer is only valid through February 19, so don't delay! Sign up today!

I cannot attend the workshops. Can I still come to the Trunk Show?
Yes! The Trunk Show is open to the public, and we invite you to stop by. The Trunk Show will open at 11:00am and close at 4:00pm daily. Our Trunk Shows are lavish presentations of original beadwork designs by Melanie Potter & bead artist and author Carol Wilcox Wells. Each design comes in an assortment of color palettes and samples of the pieces are elegantly arranged. The Trunk Show is the perfect venue to see the detail of each design and provides an opportunity to pick up the pieces and view all aspects of the work.
What are the hotel accommodations?
Students are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. We encourage students to stay at the Westin Pasadena as it is a charming hotel and very convenient. If you prefer to stay elsewhere, we suggest you visit our Travel page to view a list of additional hotels near the Westin Pasadena.
What is the daily schedule?
The workshops begin at 9:30 am and end at 4:30 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There will be an hour break for lunch in the afternoon. The Trunk Show will be open to the public daily from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm in the San Gabriel Room.
What is the skill level required to participate in this beadwork retreat?
The workshops meet the needs of a range of skill level from beginner to advanced. We do not recommend these workshops if you have never beaded before. Please feel free to email us if you have additional questions.
Will beads be available at the event?
A wide variety of beads and supplies will be available for sale at the event as well as bead kits for each design with a variety of color palettes to simplify bead selection.
I am flying to the event. Which airport should I arrive into?
Los Angeles International Airport is the closest airport which is approximately 30 miles (40 minutes by car) from the Westin Pasadena.
What type of attire is suitable to bring with me to Pasadena, California?
We encourage all students to dress in casual clothing that is comfortable and layered since room temperatures are difficult to control for every person's desire. We also encourage you to bring a sweater since it can get chilly in February. It is a good idea to bring comfortable walking shoes since there are lovely places to walk.
Will there be electrical accessibility for our bead lights?
Yes. We encourage you to bring your bead light. We will take care of setting up the work space for the beaders' comfort and needs, including electrical access for Ott-Lites or something similar.
What bead designs will I learn?
The workshops at the Westin Pasadena are Crystal Plume Earrings, Flowers of the Field and Petalicious Cuff. Each workshop is $65.00 plus the kit fee. The kit prices range from $49 - 85. Each kit includes all the supplies necessary to bead the kit as well as professionally illustrated instructions. We encourage you to reserve a space in this workshop as soon as possible if you are interested as space is limited.
